The Linebarrels of Iron story takes place in a fictional alternate future, centering around a junior-high school student named Kouichi Hayase, who escaped his daily life of being bullied as a child by daydreaming about being a hero. His life was forever changed during a class trip in the year 2016 when an artificial satellite fell from orbit. Due to this "accident", Kouichi was left in a coma for half a year, and upon awakening, found himself with strange powers, including superhuman strength. Then, in 2019, a mysterious robot called "Linebarrel" appears before him. It is revealed that the accident from three years ago was not caused by a satellite, but rather by the Machina robot Linebarrel, and that this turned him into a "Factor", which is the name given to Machina pilots. This leads him to encounter Emi Kizaki, a mysterious amnesiac girl whose unknown past seems to be related to Linebarrel. He joins her in fighting for JUDA, the world's largest medical equipment maker, which happens to secretly own several other Machina robots.

on a side note: why is it the Japanese make machina the size of 10 story buldings and only have a cockpit that barely fits 2 people. That's not very efficient besides, how's a pilot with the Mongo charm gonna sneak women into the cockpit and put the term to it's literal use. Maybe they could use Machina as public transportation if the cabin size was bigger. They can't fight forever....right?

I don't know anything about this series, but I can answer your silly question based on general theory. The reason for a small cabin, despite your opinion to the contrary, is efficiency of space. When making a mecha, you don't need life support for anything other than the pilot (and passengers if you have any), so you have most of the space occupied by things like propulsion, power generation, cooling, any sensors you might want to put in, an internal structure, some sort of protection (armor or shields or whatever), along with the fine machinery necessary to control all these things simultaneously. Now, as far as weight and space efficiency go, life support and manual control mechanisms rank pretty low, since they need a fair amount of empty space and don't actually give much of a benefit in combat. To be honest, I'd say that having a cockpit is actually detrimental to the overall combat effectiveness of a mecha in circumstances where the pilot is not a Newtype or something similar. Having space for passengers is just madness, unless it's not a combat mecha but is instead a sort of souped-up tour bus or something... But hey, maybe I need to watch this series to see if there's a specific reason and this is all just me blowing smoke.

Watch the beginning of episode 2 VERY closely, you'll be a Risako fan and realize that she was hiding her glorious chest in her school uni in episode 1.
